WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Dickinson women's basketball team had their three-game winning streak and ten-game streak over McDaniel College snapped on Wednesday night at as the Green Terror used 21 second chance points and a sizable margin on the glass (42-30) to pick up a 68-58 Centennial Conference win over the Red and White at the Gill Center.
- Raegan Lenz got the scoring started 60-seconds in, but then Mia Chapman and Clair Marion dropped seven straight to go ahead 7-2 with 6:30 to go.
- The trio of Elaina Beckett, Teya McConnaha and Lenz then responded with a 9-2 spurt of their own in just over a two minute span to jump in front by one (11-10).
- A three for Marion along with a pair of Caitlin Blackman buckets had DC holding onto a 17-16 edge after one.
- Dickinson came out strong as Clare Cronley, Jenna Weinstein and Chapman used the opening three minutes to tally the first five points to jump their advantage to 22-16.
- Five in a row by Beckett coupled with a McConnaha jumper (plus foul shot) gave the home team eight of the next eleven to close within 25-24 inside of four minutes left.
- The same duo just kept things rolling for McDaniel as they dropped in four more, before Victoria Zerbe stroked home a free throw to make it 28-26 Terror.
- Layups for Ella Smith and Marion accounted for the Devils final points of the frame as they went to the break down 35-30.
- Lenz would collect six of the first eight points with a layup by Blackman accounting for the only DC bucket as the hosts went ahead 41-32.
- Following a triple for Lil Overcash, the duo of Blackman and Chapman chipped away at the deficit leaving it at 44-38 with 5:43 to play.
- A layup from Chapman was the only Devil basket the remainder of the period as the Terror ended on a 6-2 push to take the 50-40 lead into the fourth.
- Dickinson tried to push early in the quarter as five points for Gabby Smelcer and a pull-up out of the hands of Marion cut the deficit to 54-47 only three minutes in.
- The two sides traded the next eight points with Marion and Zerbe providing the contributions for the Red and White (58-51) inside of four minutes left.
- Finishes from Beckett and Overcash pushed it out to 62-51, before Weinstein and Zerbe trimmed the margin back to seven (64-58) with less than 90 seconds to go.
- Unfortunately, McConnaha and Overcash tallied the final four points to close out the 68-58 win.
