WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team scored once in each half thanks to
Anna Bitsko and
Ava Prisco and held a sizable 28-7 advantage in shots (17-4 on target) en route to picking up a 2-0 non-conference win over Penn College of Technology on Wednesday night at UPMC Field.
First Half
- It was the Wildcats on the early attack as just 75-seconds in Pico Gray was called into action between the sticks shutting down Sara Darlington.
- Dickinson then tipped the pitch over the ensuing ten minutes getting shots from Catherine Fleck, Joelle Ma, Bridget Merkel and Prisco tasking Morgan Solano into making two stops.
- After a save each keeper during the next four minute with Gray denying Brooke Klinger, while Solano beat aside an opportunity from Ellie Nordwind.
- In the 17th minute, Dickinson would open the scoring as Merkel played a pass to Bitsko who beat Solano for the 1-0 lead.
- From then on Solano continued to be incredibly busy recording saves against Lila Brown, Maddie Kraft-Williams, Norah Heacock, Katie Vassilakos, Nordwind and Prisco to keep the margin at just one heading to the break.
Second Half
- The home side came out putting the pressure on as Ashley Gordon and Cadence Holmberg recorded shots within the first five minutes, but neither called Gray into action.
- Dickinson then went on the attack with Ma hitting the crossbar and the duo of Nordwind and Prisco having shots stopped by Solano as the match entered the final 30 minutes.
- Then, with 63:44, Merkel picked up her second helper of the night as this time she setup Prisco for the strike (2-0).
- The Devils just kept on coming in waves with shots pouring in from the likes of Isabelle Bariso, Ma, Merkel, Nordwind and Prisco, but Solano did not let another one by her.
- At the other end of the pitch, Gray posted saves against Darlington and Gordon to preserve her cleansheet as the final horn sounded with the scoreline at 2-0.
