FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Dickinson women's soccer team continued their non-conference slate on Wednesday evening by playing to a 0-0 draw against the University of Mary Washington at the Turf Stadium. First-year goalkeeper
Pico Gray was a huge reason for the final scoreline as she notched eight saves in the match.
First Half
- Gray was called into action just four minutes in as she denied Maci Landel, while at the other end of the pitch Georgia Mantione skied an offering over Emily Orn's net.
- In the 16th-minute, the Devils had a chance to take the lead as Ava Prisco had her shot blocked by the defense and Lila Brown was denied by Orn off a corner kick from Joelle Ma.
- The Eagles tallied the next three shots tasking Gray into making one stop as the match cleared 25 minutes.
- Following an offering from Norah Heacock that went wide, UMW added two more chances in minutes 32 and 38 which were stopped by Gray to end the half.
Second Half
- Just three minutes into the period the home side thought they had grabbed the lead as Katie Britton beat Gray, but her shot rang the crossbar.
- Five minutes later Prisco ask a question of Orn which she was up to the task for.
- With a little over a half-hour left Maddie St. Amand recorded a pair of chances, unfortunately, none of them bothered Orn.
- Gray would continue to be the star on the night for DC as she notched three more saves in the half to close out the 0-0 score.
