LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Dickinson College women's swim team made a splash on the opening day of the Franklin & Marshall Invite on Friday, November 21. The team sent five to the finals that evening after the successful morning preliminaries where multiple Red Devils set new personal records and tallied wins in their heats.
Preliminaries Recap
- In the women's 500 Free, senior Emma Johnston touched the wall in 5:14.29 to take third place in her heat and 11th overall to qualify for the evening finals. Junior Red Devil Julia Byers will go to the finals as well, finishing 18th overall in 5:18.16.
- The women's 200 IM featured first-year Alina Shipley who placed eighth overall to qualify for finals with a time of 2:10.60, a new personal record. First-year Natalie Bezanson notched a huge second place finish in her heat with a time of 2:14 even to qualify for finals.
- Next was the women's 50 Free where sophomore Caitlin Gross punched her ticket to finals with a 24.28, seventh place finish to lower her PR. Madeline Dold also notches a first place victory in her heat to lower her PR to 25.39.
Finals Recap
- Johnston continued to the 500 Free finals, finishing in 16th place with a time of 5:19.30. Byers placed 20th in the C-Final with a time of 5:17.54.
- First-year Shipley continued her success in the 200 IM A-Final, finishing seventh in 2:10.54
- In the women's 50 Free, Caitlin Gross claimed sixth place in the A-Final, touching the wall in 24.20.
- The relay squad made up of Tori May, Bezanson, Anna Gnagey, and Gross snagged ninth place overall in the 400 Medley Relay in 4:00.28.
