Women's Swimming Thrives at Day Two of Franklin & Marshall Invite

Junior Anna Gnagey etches her name in record book

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Dickinson women's swim team found success on day two of the Franklin & Marshall Invite on Saturday, November 22. Junior Anna Gnagey continued her impressive season by notching multiple top ten finishes and breaking the school record in the women's 100 Backstroke. 

Preliminaries Results
  • In the women's 400 IM, first-year Alina Shipley continued her great rookie season with a second place, 4:39.10 finish. Seniors Tori May and Emma Johnston went back-to-back in sixth and seventh place to qualify for finals with times of 4:41.84 and 4:42.28 respectively. 
  • Junior Anna Gnagey recorded a great swim in the women's 100 Fly where she finished ninth in 57.52 to trim her PR and qualify for finals. 
  • The Red and White sent another to finals when sophomore Caitlin Gross finished 24th in the women's 200 Free with a time of 2:00.86.
  • Continuing on, the women sent two more to finals in the 100 Breast where first-year Natalie Bezanson and senior Bella Gerkin finish in 1:08.06 and 1:09.01 respectively. 
  • Gnagey picked up another huge win in the 100 Back where she finished fourth in 57.80 to qualify for finals. 

Finals Results
  • Shipley continued her day with a fourth place, 4:39.83 finish in the women's 400 IM. Senior Johnston followed in fifth place, touching the wall in 4:39.96. May rounded out the A-Final with her eighth place, 4:43.88 finish.
  • In the women's 100 Fly finals, Gnagey continued her outing with an 11th place, 58.27 finish.
  • First-year Bezanson continued her day in the 100 Breast finals, finishing 12th overall in 1:07.68. Gerkin finished in 1:09.37 to take 19th place.
  • Junior Gnagey had another amazing swim to break the school record in the women's 100 Back. She notched a fourth place, 57.22 finish to etch her name in the record books, passing ther previous record by just a tenth of a second. 
  • The Red Devils rounded out the evening in the women's 200 Medley Relay, where the squad made up of Gnagey, Bezanson, Johnston, and Gross claimed eighth place in 1:47.95.

The Red and White will close out the Franklin & Marshall Invite on Sunday, November 23 with Session Five beginning at 10 a.m. and Session Six at 6 p.m.
