Devils Pound the Glass and Spartans to Grab Third Straight Win

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball out rebounded the visiting York College of Pennsylvania 50-29 and forced 16 Spartan turnovers en route to collecting their third consecutive victory with a 74-54 non-conference win inside the Kline Center on Tuesday night.

First Quarter
  • York used the opening two plus minutes to hold an early 3-2 edge with points from Breana Grim and Lydia Powers.
  • Triples by Clare Cronley and Leah Dubin along with a jumpers in the paint for Mia Chapman aided a 13-2 home sprint to go ahead 15-5 with five minutes gone.
  • Buckets for the trio of Alaina Neal, Olivia Shutter and Ava Snyder helped the guests to get within 19-12, but Lizzie McGrath would bury a three at the top of the key prior to the horn to make it 22-12 after one.
Second Quarter
  • Dickinson continued to extend their lead early in the period as Addison Cadwell, Victoria Zerbe and McGrath embarked on a 9-1 run over the first 3:31 to take a 31-13 advantage.
  • A single foul shot for Shutter slowed the roll for a second, before treys from Jessica Maina and McGrath stretched it to 39-14 with 3:49 left.
  • Snyder splashed one home from distance to spark a 7-5 push to close the frame slicing the deficit to 44-21 at the break.
Third Quarter
  • The two sides traded buckets inside the first minute as Grace Masser and McGrath tallied for their respective sides.
  • Two consecutive layups from Zerbe along with baskets by Cadwell and McGrath continued to keep the Spartans far away at 56-28.
  • York would secure baskets from four different players over the remainder of the quarter, but could do little to cut into the margin as it sat at 60-35 with a period to go.
Fourth Quarter
  • The visitors started strong getting buckets from Alyssa Dougherty and Grim, before Jelena Subasic and Sophie Zirkin tickled the twine pushing the gap to 65-39 with 7:50 to play.
  • Powers and Subasic would then exchange triples to leave it at 68-42.
  • Four straight by Chapman made it 72-42, before the Spartans ended the game on a 12-2 gallop to set the 74-54 final.
