ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Sophomore
Lizzie McGrath netted a game-high 17 and senior
Mia Chapman finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards as the Dickinson women's basketball team made a huge statement to head into 2026 posting a 66-49 non-conference win over the 22nd-ranked Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College inside of Thompson Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
First Quarter
- Things started great for the home side as buckets for Cadence Anderson, Ellie Fasick and Makenna Mummert made it 6-0 just over two minutes in.
- Dickinson finally got on the board with Victoria Zerbe knocking down back-to-back layups, before both Clare Cronley and McGrath stuck a triple for a 10-8 edge with 5:26 left.
- The Blue Jays would pick up the next four points thanks to Alliyia Kennedy and Anderson, but a strong finish at the rim for Mia Chapman off a dish from Addison Cadwell tied the game at 12-12.
- However, Anderson would split a pair at the foul line in the final minute to take a one point lead into the second (13-12).
Second Quarter
- The early part of the period belonged to the Devils as Emma Landes, Chapman, Cronley and McGrath all found the bottom of the net during a 10-2 run over the first five minutes to erase the one point deficit into a 22-15 advantage.
- ETown then made a strong with Ashley Adamson dropping five points and Anderson knocking down another trey to jump back on top 23-22 with 2:13 left.
- Two free throws each from Landes and Zerbe were just enough for the Red and White to take a 26-25 lead into the break.
Third Quarter
- Within the opening 30 seconds Leah Dubin and Anderson traded buckets to keep DC ahead by just one 28-27.
- The next minute plus went by with no points until Zerbe setup Chapman for a layup which started a 10-1 run with additional contributions coming from Esther Nlebemuo, Cadwell, Chapman, and McGrath making it 38-28 visitors inside of four minutes remaining.
- Anderson immediately cut into the margin by drilling another three, but layups for Cadwell and Nlebemuo quickly pushed the gap back to double-digits (42-31) with 8:29 gone.
- ETown ended the frame scoring four of the final six to leave the score at 44-35 going to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- Dickinson continued to stretch their lead early in the period as Chapman, McGrath and Zerbe went on an 8-3 spurt to make it 52-38 at the 2:24 mark.
- Foul shots by the duo of Kennedy and Mummert as well as a triple by Mummert kept the Jays fighting hard as they trailed 56-44 with under four minutes left.
- Buckets by the sophomore trio of Cadwell, Landes and McGrath opened the advantage to 61-48 with 91-seconds to play.
- A foul shot for Anderson was the final point for the Jays, before McGrath added four more and Dubin tacked on a free throw to set the 66-49.
