CARLISLE, Pa. - First-year guard
Jacob Pichay netted a game-high 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor, including a flawless 5-of-5 from beyond the arc as the Dickinson men's basketball game got back on the winning track with a 66-53 non-conference win over the visiting Penn State-Harrisburg Lions on Wednesday night inside the Kline Center.
First Half
- The two sides traded points early on as tallies from Cole Cosby, Juan Ruiz and Pichay had the score tied at 8-8 with just over four minutes off the clock.
- Dickinson then started raining triples with Cosby hitting two, while Joey Dopirak and Pichay each added one to give the home side a 20-11 lead (12:32).
- PSU responded by grabbing seven of the next eight with an Isaiah Edmond foul shot providing the lone Devils point.
- A three-ball out of the hand of Ian Polonowski made it 24-18, before contributions from Luis Ruiz, Edmond and Pichay extended the margin to 30-23 at the 15:17 mark.
- Free throws by Dane Moran and J. Ruiz allowed the Red and White to push the gap to double-digits going to the break at 34-24.
Second Half
- The Devils came out strong as layups for Edmond and Pichay coupled with a foul shot for J. Ruiz gave the home side a 39-24 advantage not even three minutes in.
- Buckets by Maurice Davis and Antwone George started and ended a 10-0 run for the Lions to cut the deficit down to just five 39-34 with six minutes gone.
- A defensive board for J. Ruiz led to an "old-fashioned" three-point play for Edmond, before Moran connected with Dopirak for another three making it 45-34 just over a minute later.
- After five straight by the guests, a pair of Pichay treys and three points for Moran opened the lead to 54-41 with 7:40 to go.
- Despite the Lions best effort to get back into the game, tip-ins for the trio of Edmond, Moran and Pichay made it 60-46.
- A foul shot by George slowed the DC roll, but points for L. Ruiz and Pichay down the stretch was enough for the Red and White to close out the 66-53 win.
