Balanced Devils Attack Leads to Second Straight Win and 200th at Dickinson for Coach Seretti

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team put six players in double-digits on Saturday afternoon, including a game-high 17 from both Joey Dopirak and Isaiah Edmond en route to collecting a 94-76 non-conference win over local rival Messiah University inside the Kline Center. With the win, Red Devils head coach Alan Seretti earned his 200th win as the Dickinson bench boss and his 245th of his coaching career.

First Half
  • The home side came out of the gates firing as two triples by Cole Cosby along with buckets for Jacob Pichay, Juan Ruiz and Luis Ruiz making it 11-7 with five minutes gone.
  • Two points for Miles Longacre and Jordan Edwards-Saliu allowed the Falcons to cut it down to two (13-11), but buckets from Dane Moran and Edmond as well as seven consecutive points by Pichay aided an 11-0 romp to make it 24-13 with 11:10 gone.
  • Three jumpers drilled by Ben Wert were answered by a pair of Dopirak bombs to keep the gap in double-digits (32-19) inside of five minutes remaining.
  • Myles Herbert and Caleb Lyles picked up six of the next eight points trimming the margin to 34-25. However, two more Dopirak threes and one out of the hands of Cosby combined with a jumper by J. Ruiz stretched the DC lead to 45-31 with 70-seconds left.
  • The Falcons outpaced the Red and White 5-3 over the rest of the frame to make it 48-36 at the break.
Second Half
  • Wert began the period with a trey, but Cosby, Edmond and Pichay responded for the Devils to bump the gap to 54-41 not even three minutes in.
  • A jumper for Johnny McBride would then start a 9-0 Falcons flight ending on a layup by Lyles making the DC lead just four (54-50) at the four minute mark.
  • Baskets put home by Edmond and Moran along with a long-range shot for Matt Mahoney quickly pushed the Devils lead out to 65-54 just over three minutes later.
  • Six of the ensuing eight points were scored by Longacre to once again bring the visitors close at 65-62, but a pair of Mahoney triples coupled with buckets for Cosby and Edmond gave Dickinson the 75-64 advantage with 7:13 left.
  • Two more jumpers by Edmond, two long-range efforts from Mahoney and additional baskets for Dopirak and Moran extended the lead out to 85-67.
  • Dickinson would just continue to hold the Falcons at-bay the rest of the game with Gabe Glover bringing the crowd to their feet late with a mid-range jumper to cap off the 94-76 victory.
