Devils Season Comes to an End in CC First Round Against Bullets

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The sixth-seeded Dickinson men's basketball team fell behind 52-29 at halftime on Tuesday night to the third-seeded Gettysburg College and was never able to get back into the game as the Bullets claimed a 92-67 win in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament at Bream Gymnasium.

Template - 1st Half
  • The home side got out to a fast start as a three ball for Nate Williams started 13-5 run over the opening four minutes that saw DC get buckets from Cole Cosby and David Petrusev.
  • Eight points out of the hands of Luis Ruiz trimmed the gap to 16-13, but eight points from Jordan Stafford keyed a 12-3 response by the home team that stretched the lead out to 28-16 at the halfway point of the frame.
  • Five points from Petrusev over the ensuing six minutes did little to cut into the deficit as the Bullets held a 39-21 advantage with 15:45 gone.
  • The duo of Cosby and Petrusev accounted for the Devils final eight points of the frame with the hosts closing on a 13-8 push to take a 52-29 lead to the break.
Template - 2nd Half
  • Dickinson tried to gain some much needed momentum coming out of the locker with Cosby hitting from deep and Brandon Wiercinski finishing at the rim leaving the score at 57-34.
  • Five by Isaiah Edmond along with a layup for Petrusev made it 59-41 with 4:59 gone, but the Bullets responded with six of the next eight pushing the margin to 65-43 still with over ten minutes left.
  • The next three minutes saw Petrusev and Ruiz combine for six foul shots making it 71-49.
  • Gettysburg would use an 18-4 charge aided by triples from Akim Joseph, Vule Sukovic and Ray Zamloot to balloon the advantage out to 89-53 at the 16:19 mark.
  • Buckets from the quartet of Ryan Leskauskas, Matt Smith, Petrusev and Wiercinski down the stretch set the 92-67 final.
