CARLISLE, Pa. - Sophomore
Clare Cronley buried a shot from way downtown with 19 seconds left in the fourth quarter to help Dickinson complete a late game comeback to pick up a massive 55-51 Centennial Conference win over the visiting Washington College Shorewomen inside the Kline Center on Senior Day.
- The Red and White held a 7-4 edge three minutes in thanks to the contributions of senior duo Caitlin Blackman and Clair Marion.
- Five straight by Kaitlyn Boggs put the guests ahead 9-7, but Abby John, Blackman and Marion answered with six in a row to make it 13-9 still with 3:26 left.
- Molly Heron picked up the only other point of the period for DC as the Shorewomen took three of the final four to leave it 14-12 after one.
- An early layup for Victoria Zerbe bumped the Devils edge to 16-13, before Karry Kelliher, Emma Robinson and Boggs went on a 6-2 push to give them a 19-18 advantage with just under five minutes to play.
- Mia Chapman and Blackman collected four of the last seven points of the frame to head into the locker room in a deadlock 22-22.
- Marion setup Blackman for a jumper just 19-seconds in, but a three from Abby Meredith kicked off an 8-0 charge for the Shorewomen to go ahead 30-24 with 3:53 off the clock.
- Jenna Weinstein and Chapman helped the Red and White to share the ensuing dozen points to maintain the six-point deficit at 36-30 inside of four minutes remaining.
- The same duo of Chapman and Weinstein continued to try and chip away at the margin, but a triple from Meredith and buckets for Kiersten Rose and Boggs made it 42-34.
- Cronley and John would give the home side some life heading into the fourth as the score read 43-38.
- Baskets for Cronley and Marion pulled Dickinson to within 43-42 less than a minute in.
- After a layup by Boggs, Chapman and Weinstein traded scores with Meredith and Rose leaving the gap at 49-46 still with 5:17 left.
- The senior trio of Blackman, Marion and Weinstein collected the following five points to take a 51-49 advantage at the 6:46 mark.
- Kelliher would finish in the paint just 11-seconds later to tie the game, before the two sides combined to miss seven consecutive shots keeping it at 51-51 with a minute left.
- Dickinson would grab the lead for good late in the period as coming out of a timeout late in the shot clock Cronley was put in a tough position needing to launch a shot from the top of the key that kissed the glass and dropped in for the 55-51 lead.Â
- Washington had two looks at the tie, but could not convert which allowed Marion to split a pair at the line to close out the 55-51 win.
