Get to Know Our Athletic Trainers - Megan Zimmerman

CARLISLE, Pa. - Today we conclude our Athletic Trainers Appreciation Month recognition by highlighting our athletic trainer for the Red Devils men's soccer and men's lacrosse programs Megan Zimmerman.

Zimmerman is in her first year as an athletic trainer here at Dickinson. She is originally from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and was a tri-sport athlete in high school, playing soccer, basketball, and softball. On the court, Zimmerman was a 1000-point scorer and a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection before taking her talents to Messiah University in nearby Grantham. Her success continued at Messiah where she played basketball for the Falcons for five years, winning the Middle Atlantic Conference Most Valuable Player award for the 2022-2023 season and making a pair of NCAA Division III tournament appearances. Off the court, Zimmerman always knew she wanted to work as a healthcare professional but did not know exactly what she wanted to pursue. After forming a great relationship with the athletic trainer at Messiah and falling in love with the focus of human anatomy and athletic performance, she knew athletic training was for her. Zimmerman graduated from Messiah in 2022 with her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and then received her Master's Degree in Athletic Training also from Messiah in 2024. She was then attracted to Dickinson because of the diverse student athlete population, the highly competitive athletic atmosphere, and the opportunity to work with a well-established sports medicine department alongside high-quality athletic trainers. Since coming to Dickinson, her favorite part of the job has been helping passionate athletes succeed with rehab and treatment plans. The most rewarding part of the job for her is getting to build deep relationships with student athletes and invest in their overall development. Outside of athletic training, Megan enjoys working out, hiking, playing pickleball, and participating in service projects with her church. She also enjoys supporting the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State Football, and the Las Vegas Aces.

All of the Dickinson College community would like to say thank you one more time to the amazing athletic training staff: Janelle Nolt, Alex Bazink, Danielle Cook, Sean Quirk and Megan Zimmerman.
