Returning All-Region Performers Welcome Newcomers From the Mind of Coach Nichter
  • Thoughts on schedule
    • The team is excited to get started with the first three meets of the season set up for shorter distance racing at 5k.   This will serve them well in preparation for the longer Men's 8k championship race distances to come later in the season.   We are hosting the annual Dickinson Long-Short Invitational in late September on our home course at Big Spring High School which is always exciting.  We are also hosting the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships in October so we will have opportunities throughout the season to practice and preview for this NCAA Nationals Championships qualifier meet.
  • How have your first-years acclimate to the collegiate pace so far?
    • We have a very large group of first years that are finding their way as collegiate distance runners.   It is always a work in progress for them, but I am pleased with their progress in these first two weeks during our pre-competition phase of training.
  • What are your expectations heading into this season?
    • Our training for competition this fall has focused exclusively on the process of training in a team culture of passion and commitment.   In this sport we minimize any "outcome based" approach to performance results.  In contrast, we will train everyday as a team with attention to the foundational elements for competitive success. We will pursue individual academic goals with vigor and intention while we develop a team culture based on positive energy and commitment to each other.
