CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team held a 15-4 edge in shots and a 17-3 advantage in corner kicks, but it was not enough as the visiting Grove City College used a seventh-minute goal to secure a 1-0 non-conference win on Saturday afternoon at Miller Memorial Field.
First Half
- Five minutes in the visitors would record the first shot of the match as Meghan Tischler was denied by keeper Pico Gray. However, two minutes later it became 1-0 courtesy of a strike from Tori Stevenson.
- Dickinson was on the attack for the next ten minutes with chances coming from Norah Heacock, Joelle Ma and Catherine Fleck, unfortunately none of them bothered GC goalie Maddie Mills.
- Each keeper was then called upon to make a save with Gray shutting down Stevenson, while Mills had an answer for Georgia Mantione.
- With a half-hour gone Mantione tested Mills again, before four minutes later Katie Vassilakos sent one over the top of the net.
Second Half
- Dickinson used the opening five minutes to tally three shots thanks to Ava Prisco, Lila Brown and Isabelle Bariso, but only one of them forced Mills into a save.
- The game was then contested primarily in the midfield until the 65th minute when a DC corner set the stage for attempts from Bridget Merkel, Ma and Prisco, but once again Mills was up to the task.
- The Red and White would earn six corners during the final five minutes of play, however, Anna Bitsko was the only one able to attempt a shot which Mills pushed away to see out the 1-0 win.
