CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team got second-half tallies from
Joelle Ma and
Ava Prisco en route to collecting a 2-0 non-conference win over York College of Pennsylvania at Miller Memorial Field on Wednesday night to snap the two-match slide for the Red and White.
First Half
- Dickinson would record the opening shot of the match just two minutes in, but the attempt by Mckenna Gross was blocked down by the defense.
- York needed to wait until the tenth minute to even think about bothering DC keeper Pico Gray as two chances from Holly Krieg both sailed over the net.
- The next couple of minutes went by with neither side able to get anything going until the 15:31 mark when Anna Bitsko missed to the right of YCP goalie Joss Metz.
- Over the ensuing ten minutes there would not be another shot as the two sides continued to play to a stalemate.
- The remainder of the frame saw Dickinson put York completely on the backfoot as shots from Norah Heacock, Maddie Kraft-Williams, Katie Vassilakos, Ma and Prisco all came at Metz, but she made one save and watched the others miss the mark.
Second Half
- For the second straight half it was the Red and White that came out strong as Isabelle Bariso sent a shot over the net not even two minutes in.
- Ultimately, it would be Dickinson that took the 1-0 lead as a corner played into the box by Ma came to the boot of Prisco who blasted her shot off the post. Fortunately, for DC it bounced back off of Metz and into the net at the 49:53 mark.
- Just about two minutes later it was 2-0 Devils when a long ball over the top of the defense by Ma was brought down by Emma Barrabee inside the box. She would attack Metz one-on-one and was ultimately brought down by the keeper leading to a penalty kick. Ma would step up from 12-yards away and leave Metz rooted to her line as the ball went flying into the net.
- The next 15 minutes saw the two sides each record two shots. However, none of them tested Metz or Gray.
- In the last ten minutes York would be the ones asking all the questions as Abby Brown hit a post, Carissa Baugus was stopped by Gray and Abby Liebhauser had a chance blocked by the defense to end the match.
