NEWVILLE, Pa. — The Dickinson women's cross country team hosted the annual Dickinson Long-Short Invite Saturday afternoon at Big Spring High School.
Liza Barbash finished first in the women's 4K with a time of 14:21.5, breaking the school record in the 4000m race.
4K Race
Sophomore Barbash led the Dickinson women's cross country team with a first-place finish, completing the 4K race in 14:21.5. The impressive performance tops her time at last year's event by over a minute and a half, recording a 15:52.3 for 30th place.
Devon Culberson, also a sophomore, secured the 33rd position with a time of 15:56.5, while
Sophia Kovalski followed in 51st, clocking in at 16:34.7.
Lauren Scott and
Abigail Duffy, both sophomores, finished close together in 54th and 66th place with times of 16:39.5 and 17:04.9, respectively.
Emma VanMeter recorded a time of 17:48.6 to take 81st place, and freshman
Margaret Randolph completed the race in 92nd with a time of 18:30.8. The team's efforts combined for fifth place in the event.
6K Race
Junior
Meghan Higgins-Haas led the Red and White, finishing sixth in the women's 6K with a time of 23:37.0. Freshman
Meghan McGinnis secured 22nd place, crossing the line in 24:32.6. Freshman
Roma Diak also delivered a noteworthy performance, placing 32nd with a time of 24:59.6. The team saw junior
Breanna Franchak finish in 53rd place with a time of 26:00.7, while freshman
Mariana Naser followed in 60th, completing the race in 26:30.4. Overall, the team placed fourth in the race.
Looking Ahead
The Red Devils will continue the 2025 campaign at the Paul Short Invitational on October 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Goodman Campus XC Course in Bethlehem, PA.
