CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team shot a solid 46% from the floor and had four players reach double-digits, including double-doubles for
Dane Moran and
Juan Ruiz en route to a 79-68 conference win over Haverford College on Saturday afternoon inside the Kline Center.
First Half
- Things started well for the guests as three different players connected on a triple inside the first four minutes to grab a 9-2 lead.
- Two layups from Moran and jumpers by Matt Mahoney and J. Ruiz sent DC on an 8-0 romp to jump in front 10-9 with 7:39 gone.
- A Seth Anderson bucket slowed the roll for a brief moment, before baskets by Ian Polonowski and Mahoney opened the advantage to 19-13 still with nine minutes to play.
- The duo of Gaven Marr and Adam Strong-Jacobson helped the Fords to cut into the margin slightly making it 21-17.
- Free throws from Moran and Pichay pushed the lead to nine (26-17), before points by Raja Coleman, Marr and Strong-Jacobson brought the visitors within three at 28-25 with 3:11 to play.
- A three-ball for Cole Cosby coupled with two points each by Moran and J. Ruiz extended the gap back to 36-27, before five straight for the Fords trimmed the margin to 36-32 at halftime.
Second Half
- Five of the first seven points of the frame went to DC with Isaiah Edmond sticking a three, while Cosby setup Moran for a layup in the paint (41-34).
- However, Haverford had an answer using triples from Anderson and Carter coupled with a Coleman layup to pull within one at 43-42, before Strong-Jacobson split two at the line tying the game.
- Things would go back and forth over the next couple of minutes as the score remained locked at 47-47 still with over ten to play.
- Five straight by Pichay along with buckets for Joey Dopirak and Moran gave DC a little bit of a cushion at 57-51 at the 11:09 mark forcing Haverford into a timeout.
- Coleman and Marr knocked triples to help the Fords once again trim it back to a one-point game 58-57 just over a minute later.
- Dickinson's next eight points would all come at the charity line thanks to the group of Cosby, Dopirak, Edmond and Pichay making it 66-59.
- A free throw for Marr stalled the Devils charge for a second, but a Moran three and eight foul shots hit by Edmond down the stretch allowed the hosts to secure the 79-68 win.
