HAVERFORD, Pa. - After suffering their first conference loss of the season on Wednesday against McDaniel, the Dickinson women's basketball team was back to work on Saturday afternoon visiting Haverford College for a pivotal Centennial contest. The Red and White got 14 points each from
Addison Cadwell and
Mia Chapman, in addition to outscoring the Fords 29-9 over the middle two frames to capture a 60-42 win inside of Gooding Arena.
First Quarter
- It was the home side that got off to a fast start with buckets for Alyssa Aslam, Brianna Feifer and Bri Heafey making it 6-2 not even two minutes in.
- A three from Lizzie McGrath and a tip-in for Cadwell off a Jelena Subasic miss gave the guests the 7-6 edge, before triples for Audrey Jakway and Heafey nudged the Fords back ahead 12-7 with less than four to play.
- Dickinson would chip into the deficit going to the second as baskets knocked home by Clare Cronley, Emma Landes and Chapman chopped the margin to 17-14.
Second Quarter
- The Devils came out on fire to begin the period with Victoria Zerbe, Cadwell, Chapman, Landes and McGrath engineering a 10-0 run during the opening five minutes to make it 24-17.
- A Jakway layup attempted to try and flip momentum, but four points by Cadwell and two at the stripe for Cronley moved the advantage to double figures 30-19 inside the final minute.
- Caroline Orza would tip-in a last second miss by Jakway to send the game to the breat at 30-21.
Third Quarter
- It took a little over a minute to find the first points of the quarter as a foul of Jakway led to a pair at the line for Chapman. That would be the start of an 11-1 outburst for the Red and White that saw contributions come from Cadwell, Landes and Zerbe opening the lead out to 41-22 with just under 90 seconds to play.
- Orza tallied four of the remaining six points leaving the score at 43-26 through 30 minutes.
Fourth Quarter
- The teams shared the opening eight points with Chapman and McGrath providing the offense for the Devils to make it 47-30 with 1:43 gone.
- An Orza triple attempted to bring hope back to the Fords, but it was immediately answered with buckets for Cadwell, Chapman, Cronley and Zerbe extending the advantage to 56-35.
- A free throw by Lily Spanos and a trey knocked down by Subasic capped the scoring for the Red and White as they closed out the 60-42 victory.
