CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as four players reached double-digits and the team built up a 33-16 halftime lead en route to a dominant 68-50 conference win over Franklin and Marshall College inside the Kline Center.
First Quarter
- Dickinson began the game strong with triples for Addison Cadwell and Lizzie McGrath along with layups by Mia Chapman and Victoria Zerbe making the score 14-2 with four minutes gone.
- The trio of Hailey Cabanas, Lizzie Neville and Gia Sioutis then worked on getting the visitors back in the game by scoring five straight to get within 14-8 at the 6:35 mark.
- Over the remainder of the period each team would pickup just one more basket with Clare Cronley and Neville scoring for their respective sides leaving the gap at 16-10 through one.
Second Quarter
- Paint buckets for the pair of Lauren Rusas and Sioutis inside the first minute gave the Diplomats life at 16-14.
- However, after Zerbe and Neville exchanged baskets the visitors did not score over the final 8:30 as the group of Leah Dubin, Gabby Smelcer, Cadwell, Chapman and McGrath embarked on a 15-0 romp to take a 33-16 advantage into the break.
Third Quarter
- After a layup by Sioutis opened the scoring, buckets for Emma Landes, Esther Nlebemuo and Zerbe resulted in an 8-4 push for the hosts making it 41-22 with 3:51 off the clock.
- Six foul shots converted out of the hands of Neville coupled with a layup for Mackenzie Ward hacked the margin down to 45-30 inside of five minutes left.
- A pair of home offensive rebounds for Chapman and Nlebemuo gave the Devils the ability to eventually pickup a layup by Chapman which started a string of the teams trading buckets with Cadwell adding a pair of layups to push the lead out to 51-36.
- Neville hit another two free throws to make it 51-38, before a tip-in by Nlebemuo along with two McGrath free throws set the margin at 55-38 going to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- Dickinson netted the first five points of the period thanks to a layup by Zerbe and Dubin setting up McGrath for a long-range shot (60-38).
- The Diplomats grabbed seven of the next nine with scores coming from Fiona Reckner, Cabanas and Ward trimming the margin to 62-45 at the halfway point.
- Jessica Maina buried her first look of the game from deep with three minutes left and both Nlebemuo and Zerbe found the bottom of the net to finish off the scoring at 68-50.
