CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team gave all they had for 40 minutes on Saturday afternoon, but ultimately was not able to overcome a well-balanced attack from the visiting Carnegie Mellon University as five players reached double-digits to pick up a 70-57 non-conference win inside the Kline Center.
First Half
- Triples for Matt Mahoney and Jacob Pichay along with a jumper by Cole Cosby gave the Red and White an 8-4 edge six minutes into the game.
- Sam Adusei, Isaac Higgs and Evan Mirazimi then organized a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to jump ahead 16-10.
- Pichay stunted the charge with a layup before Nolan Casey, Nikola Dimitrijevic and Adusei all picked up buckets to extend the advantage to 22-13 with 5:48 left.
- Free throws for Joey Dopirak and Juan Ruiz helped the hosts to chip away slightly making it 24-16 a minute later.
- Treys from Buckley DeJardin and Mahoney left it at 27-19, before Mahoney poked the ball free from Adusei on the defensive end and broke away for a thunderous dunk.
- Points for Isaiah Edmond and Cosby kept the Red and White right in the game heading to break at 31-26.
Second Half
- Dickinson came out of the break quick with Cosby setting up Pichay for a three and Dane Moran working himself free for a layup to make it 31-31 not even two minutes gone.
- A basket from Adusei kick-started an 11-0 romp over a five minute window to jump ahead 42-31.
- Edmond then accounted for six of the next eight DC points with J. Ruiz picking up the other bucket to leave the score at 43-39 CMU with 11:11 remaining.
- Once again the Tartans had an answer when the Devils got back in the game as Adusei, Casey and DeJardin went on an 8-2 spurt to grab a ten-point edge (51-41).
- A three each by Cosby and Pichay unfortunately could do little to cut into the deficit as they still trailed 55-47 inside of four minutes to play.
- The group of Luis Ruiz, Edmond and Pichay all found the bottom of the bucket over the rest of the game, but the Tartans allowed the Red and White to get no closer than ten points as they finished off the 70-57 win.
