CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team got points from all 13 players including ten each from
Lizzie McGrath and
Victoria Zerbe en route to posting a convincing 79-33 Centennial Conference win over Bryn Mawr College inside the Kline Center on Wednesday night.
First Quarter
- A layup for Mia Chapman and a pair of Zerbe free throws had the hosts out to a 4-0 lead just 90 seconds in.
- The pair of Jenny Briggs and Jenna Vollor each posted a layup to tie the game, before buckets by Chapman, McGrath and Zerbe put the Devils back ahead 12-4 with just under four minutes left.
- A basket from Michelle Jiang halted things for a second, but tallies for Addison Cadwell, Emma Landes and Jelena Subasic sent the Red and White into the second period up 18-8.
Second Quarter
- The second frame was all Dickinson as triples from Jessica Maina and McGrath coupled with contributions by Chapman and Zerbe extended the advantage to 29-8 with 2:33 gone.
- Just over a minute later Hannah Mack buried a triple for the Owls to stall the host's outburst.
- However, that would be the only bucket for BMC the rest of the half as a three-ball for Gabby Smelcer started a 14-0 run to end the frame with additional baskets coming from Clare Cronley, Esther Nlebemuo and Lily Spanos making it 43-11 at halftime.
Third Quarter
- Hannah Govert split a pair on the charity line 30 seconds in, but once again Dickinson responded in a big way as Cadwell, Chapman and Zerbe extended the margin to 50-12 with six minutes off the clock.
- Sydney Gelhar and Briggs than organized a 7-0 charge to gain some momentum cutting the score to 50-19.
- The trio of Cadwell, Landes and Maina battled back with an 8-2 spurt over the final 2:03 to take a 58-21 advantage to the final ten minutes.
Fourth Quarter
- Sena Kaper-Dale and Landes traded buckets early inside the opening two minutes.
- The Red and White then got hot from outside as Leah Dubin, Sophie Zirkin and McGrath all hit from deep, while Spanos and Subasic collected points in the paint opening the gap to 74-27 with three-and-a-half left.
- Landes and Smelcer picked up the rest of the points for the Devils as the Owls outscored the home side 6-5 down the stretch to set the 79-33 result.
