GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson running back tandem of
Dane Sorensen and
Jake Williams combined for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns, while defensively
Sean Couvertiere and
Marco Kaufman joined for three interceptions to make sure the Little Brown Bucket returned to Carlisle for a tenth straight season thanks to a 40-19 Centennial Conference win at Musselman Stadium.
First Quarter
- Dickinson opened with the ball on their own 25 and using back-to-back-back touches from Sorensen quickly advanced out to the GC30. Ben Klassen then connected with Frederik Fjeldseth for six, Keesean Campbell for three and Colin Sullivan for 13 to move down to the GC9. Unfortunately for the Devils, the drive would fall short of the endzone as Hudson Reese knocked home a 24-yard field goal (3-0).
- After each team possessed the ball again with no points, the Bullets went to work at the DC46. A 24-yard pass from Sean Clark to Gabriel Diaz and two rushes for Carson Shoffner brought the Bullets inside the redzone at the DC18, However, the Red and White dug in defensively forcing a 35-yard game-tying field goal for Isaac Parks-Gill.
Second Quarter
- Gettysburg began the period in the midst of a drive looking at first-and-ten just shy of midfield at the GC48. A pass from Clark to Nick Thomas and a DC pass interference penalty got the home side inside the DC10. On third-and-goal from the DC9, Clark was tossed for a five-yard sack by Domani White leading to another Parks-Gill field goal attempt. He stepped out onto the field and knocked home a 31-yard kick to make it 6-3 three minutes into the frame.
- The ensuing Dickinson possession lasted only three plays as rushes from Sorensen of seven and three had the rock sitting at the DC35. Sorensen then finished off the march with a flourish as he broke around the right side of the defense and raced home from 65 yards to give the Red and White a 10-6 lead (Reese kick).
- After the Devils defense forced a Bullets punt, Dickinson started again on their own 16. Klassen opened up by finding Kevin Schmidt for a dozen, before Jake Williams notched gains of 12, 10 and seven to advance to the GC43. Klassen then went back to the air hitting Braden White for 11 and Mathias Young for 27 to help take the march to the GC1. That was when Williams burst through the line into the endzone for a 17-6 advantage (Reese kick).
- Another Bullets punt led to the visitors taking over on the DC26, Receptions by Fjeldseth and Sullivan along with carries for Klassen and Sorensen advanced the drive to the GC40 leading to the two minute timeout. Double-digit yard passes to the pair of Sullivan and White made it first-and-ten DC at the GC16 with 30-seconds remaining. After a six-yard pass from Klassen to White, Klassen connected with Schmidt for a 10-yard touchdown at the buzzer (24-6) (Reese kick).  Â
Third Quarter
- Gettysburg got the second half kickoff and thanks to big pass plays from Clark to Thomas for 29 yards and Diaz for 23 the Bullets found themselves in the endzone to trim the gap down to 24-12 (two point conversion failed).
- Dickinson's first possession of the period saw them advance all the way down to the GC7, but it came to an abrupt end as Klassen was picked off in the endzone by Collin Morrow. Four plays into the following Bullets drive, Clark was intercepted by Couvertiere giving the ball back to the Devils at the GC19. The Red and White would go three-and-out leading to a 32-yard kick by Reese to stretch the margin to 27-12.
Fourth Quarter
- With the home side in the middle of a drive and knocking on the door to start the period, Clark found Edison Case on the first play of the quarter to make it 27-19 (Parks-Gill kick). The Bullets attempted to ride that momentum by attempting an onside kick which they recovered to give themselves the ball back at the GC46. However, three plays later the ball was back in the Devils hands as Kaufman stepped in the way of the Clark pass.
- Dickinson then used a "ground and pound" approach as Sorensen and Williams combined for a 11-play run only drive ending with Sorensen finding paydirt from two-yards out extending the advantage to 34-19 with six minutes to play. Following the second pick of the game for Couvertiere, it was another run centric drive as Sorensen and Williams handled a majority of the work, while Klassen linked up with Sullivan for 12 to leave the ball on the GC1. That was when Sorensen collected his third TD of game setting the final of 41-19.
