WESTMINSTER, Md. -
Alex Hackett notched a goal in the second and added another in the fourth, while
Megan McClure,
Gillian Rosenstock,
Nicole Uebele and
Raegan Carty each picked up one as the Dickinson field hockey team kept their Centennial Conference playoff hopes alive with a dominant 6-0 win over McDaniel College at Gill Stadium on Wednesday evening.
First Quarter
- Dickinson earned three corners and tallied four shots courtesy of Erin Liggio, Carty, Hackett and Rosenstock, but Lora Scarengello recorded a pair of save to end a scoreless frame.
Second Quarter
- The visitors needed just 52-seconds to find the first goal of the game as Alexandra Hockwitt found McClure for the finish.
- About ten minutes later it was almost 2-0, but Emma Fresconi swept the shot from Lucy Brown off the line before Scarengello had the answer for Uebele's attempt.
- Hackett finally extended the margin to 2-0 with 46-seconds left when she buried a feed from Hockwitt.
Third Quarter
- Teaghen Rieder took over between the pipes for the Green Terror to begin the second half and she was immediately under pressure as she made stops against both Riley Oakes and Carty within the first three minutes.
- However, the Devils attack was ultimately rewarded with unassisted tallies from Rosenstock and Uebele on their next two shots for a 4-0 lead.
- McDaniel's first shot came at the 42:32 mark when a corner played in by Anna Buyse led to an offering for Kelsey Jennings that went wide of Arden Cook in cage.
- With less than a minute remaining, Ella Ledenko inserted a corner to Emmy Chazen who was stopped by Rieder. Fortunately, for the Devils Carty pounced on the loose ball and put it into the cage making it 5-0.
Fourth Quarter
- Dickinson set the 6-0 final score line only 1:17 into the period with Rosenstock finding Hackett for the goal.
- McDaniel tried to break up the shutout late in the game, but Aubrie Castaneda was shutdown by Cook to end the game.
