CARLISLE, Pa. - Sophomore midfielder
Eva Gardner got her 2026 campaign off to a flying start on Saturday afternoon as she netted a hat trick inside of the opening three minutes to kickstart the Dickinson women's lacrosse team to an 18-5 non-conference win over local foe Lebanon Valley College at Biddle Field. In addition to Gardner's big day first-years
Quinn Foa and
Heidi Schmidt collected their first collegiate goals in their debut.
First Quarter
- Gardner needed just 56-seconds to open the scoring as she cashed in off of Schuyler Cerow's draw win. Gardner than struck on her next two chances thanks to Sage Whiteside getting the Devils the possession off the ensuing draws making it 3-0 with 12:27 left.
- Dickinson continued to apply the pressure recording seven of eight shots through Carson Cerow, Crawford Fisher, Abby Geary, Gardner and Whiteside, but it was Elizabeth Morgan of LVC who solved Peyton VanDorpe to trim one off the margin.
- There would be one more tally in the frame and it would come courtesy of Geary as she deposited the ball past Gigi Ditsky.
Second Quarter
- Once again DC came out of the gates strong with Bella Guckes, Grace Kelly and Whiteside all finding the back of cage within the first three minutes to extend the gap to 7-1.
- With 5:09 off the clock a home giveaway led to the ball finding Emily Menet who eventually got it ahead to Nina Humpf for the finish.Â
- Each keeper would tally a stop over the next couple of minutes, before a turnover caused by Mallory Cavanagh resulted in Guckes linking up with Whiteside for another strike (8-2).
- Dickinson was not done however as two more VanDorpe stops of Kyla Hebert and Morgan set the stage for goals by Guckes and Geary making it 10-2 going into halftime.
Third Quarter
- Both sides struggled to find their offensive footing early in the period as they combined for six giveaways during the first four minutes until Schmidt asked a question of Ditsky who was up to the task.
- That stop seemed to spark the attack for the Dutchmen with Hebert striking twice around the fourth marker of the day for Gardner leaving the score 11-4 with half the frame to play.
- At the ten minute mark, a save by VanDorpe on Morgan saw the keeper feed the rock ahead to Schmidt who buried it beyond the reach of Ditsky. However, Molly Whisler would respond just prior to the horn sounding cutting it to 12-5 with a quarter remaining.
Fourth Quarter
- With five minutes off the clock, a foul on Katie Giusti resulted in Schmidt ripping the back of the net on a free-position chance.Â
- Then, over the ensuing three minutes it was "one-way" traffic for Dickinson as Cerow, Foa and Geary ran off four straight goals extending the advantage to 17-5.Â
- Dickinson was not done though with Lexi Thaut adding one final tally right as the horn sounded to set the 18-5 final.
