PHILADELPHIA - The Dickinson men's squash team kicked off the final weekend of their 2025-2026 season on Friday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over Bates College during the Round of 16 at the College Squash Association Team Championships inside the Specter Squash Center.
Inside the Match
Three matches were required to go the distance with
Elian Vera at the two spot sharing the first four games against Ashton Monteiro, before edging out the Bobcat 12-10 in the final.
Cormac Sullivan at seven followed the same pattern as Vera by splitting the opening four games versus John Kim, but the Devil once again persevered claiming an 11-8 triumph. However, the Red and White were not able to go 3-for-3 in five-set battles as
Owen Buroker (3rd) erased a 0-2 deficit to Oscar Hecker, before falling just short in the deciding fifth 11-9. The duo of William Krizek and
Derek Du playing at four and five needed four games each to topple Parker Davis Jr. and Tommy Le, while
Gerardo Ortiz (8th) and
George Vollmer V (9th) posted 3-0 triumphs. The final match to come to a close was at the top of ladder where Dennis Welte was able to knock off
Joe Smythe in fourth.  Â
