Inside the Game
- Following a scoreless top of the first, Nolan Ross retired the first two men he faced in the home-half but then three straight walks loaded the bases. Ayden Thelen then struck a double to center taking a 2-0 edge after one.
- Kyle Bailey began the second with a two-bagger down the left field line. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch, before swiping home to cut the margin to 2-1. Unfortunately, in the bottom portion of the frame a single and double drove home one. The next man in the box was Zach Johnston who provided a two-run homer making it 5-1. That was immediately followed with a blast from Jace Irvin bumping the gap to 6-1 at the end of two.
- A single for Matt Conforti and free pass to Dylan Posencheg put two on with no out. Ferris flew out to center, before an error and three straight knocks by Bruno, Bailey and Luke Gartland resulted in four runs coming across to bring DC within 6-5 through two-and-a-half. Once again the home side had an answer to Dickinson's rally as two DC fielding miscues and a two-bagger from Ethan Pfeffer led to two more crossing the dish extending the advantage to 8-5.
- Caleb Price took over for Hrivnak to start the top of the fourth and got a quick groundout from Ethan Sodl. However, Conforti then picked up a double and after a wild pitch scored on a sac fly off the stick of Posencheg. Ferris than smashed a ball beyond the fence to make it 8-7 going to the home-half. JC tallied another run as Thelen reach on an error and made it all the way to third crossing when Matthew Koehler legged out an infield RBI single (9-7).Â
- Walks to Bailey and Freeman Hunt coupled with Gartland being drilled by Price resulted in Sodl producing a sacrifice fly to center (9-8). Then with a runner on first and one away, Irvin picked up an RBI double and then came in to score when the next batter Connor Blough drove him across on a single. The Eagles weren't done though as Pfeffer and Ricky Scott each collected an RBI single later in the frame to give the home side a 14-8 lead into the sixth.
- A base hit from Posencheg opened up the inning, but he would come in two batters later when Bruno blasted a two-run homer to trim the gap to 14-10. The Red and White went to work in the top of the seventh trying to get back into the game and using a single for Hunt along with a walk to Sodl put DC in a great spot with two on and no one out. Unfortunately, the Devils were not given the opportunity to complete their comeback as the game was stopped due to darkness.
