CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team used a combined 14 goals from the trio of
Quinn Foa,
Abby Geary and
Grace Kelly to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon by knocking off the visiting McDaniel College by a score of 18-3 in Centennial Conference action at Biddle Field.
First Quarter
- It was the visitors who got the scoring started at the 1:18 mark when Grace Legacy beat DC goalie Peyton VanDorpe. However, the Red and White responded immediately with Sage Whiteside winning the ensuing draw and finding Crawford Fisher who setup Kelly for her first.
- The keepers were then the story over the next five-plus minutes as VanDorpe recorded four saves, while Caleigh Kohr denied Kelly during that stretch.
- Dickinson would take a 3-1 edge into the second with Geary notching a free-position tally and Heidi Schmidt connecting with Geary.
Second Quarter
- Over the first three minutes the Red and White added three more to their total with Fisher burying the rock off a Geary assist, Caroline Cavendish finding Kelly for the finish and Jillian McNulty playing provider for Geary making it 6-1.
- The next three Devil markers all came off of defensive stops as Ali Broome started a possession that ended in a Foa goal. Then, Alex Hackett knocked the ball away from Gracie Nash leading to Cavendish finding Kelly for the eighth of the game. The following two Green Terror opportunities stalled out on turnovers caused by Mia Snellenburg and Whitside resulting in strikes from Carson Cerow (Meghan McDonald assist) and Cavendish (Kelly assist) making it 10-1 with 3:39 left.
- After Addison Utterback stopped the DC run, Broome popped the ball loose from Nash allowing Foa to post another one for the 11-2 halftime lead.
Third Quarter
- To begin the frame Brynna O'Brien took over between the pipes for VanDorpe and she immediately watched her side add another one thanks to Kelly (12-2).
- Addison Utterback trimmed one off the gap, but the duo of Foa and Geary each tickled the twine to quickly extend the advantage to 14-3.
- O'Brien shutdown Utterback later in the period to set the stage for Geary to post an unassisted finish giving the Red and White a 15-3 lead entering the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- Lydia Mossi went in cage to start the quarter and turned aside Utterback two minutes in leading to a three-goal DC run on tallies by Schmidt (Geary assist), Foa (Cerow assist) and Foa (Schmidt assist) making it 18-3 with 7:23 left.
- Mossi finished off a clean period by notching three more saves, while at the other end Hackett and McDonald offered the final two chances for the Devils that missed the mark ending the game.
