CARLISLE, Pa. - The sixth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team pushed hard for 90 minutes on Friday night, but it was ultimately the 12th-ranked Rowan University who despite playing the final 20-plus minutes with only ten men bagged two goals in the last 15 minutes to post a 2-0 non-conference win over the Red and White at Miller Memorial Field in a showdown of nationally recognized sides.
First Half
- Dickinson used their high press and attacking mindset to have the visitors under duress early as Nicholas Dwamena, Rowan Jensen, Mika Rafidimahavonjy, Jeremy Sallade and Maxim Temple recorded shots in the opening 15 minutes, but only forced one save from goalie Mike Moore.
- After that the remainder of the half saw the guests dig in defensively and not allow another shot to the Devils, while at the other end of the pitch Carill Asanji tested Gavin Marr who made the stop to keep it scoreless going to the break.
Second Half
- Both keepers came under fire within the first ten minutes with Marr denying Tanner Grozinski and Moore having the answer for Dwamena.
- Dwamena also added chances in the 58th and 61st, unfortunately neither was able to get beyond Moore.
- Following a shot for Maxx Eichenbaum, Dickinson began a counter attack going the other way and with the ball at the feet of Timi Omoniwa, Darrin Doyle took the Devil off his feet with an aggressive challenge which led to Doyle being issued his second yellow of the match and forcing the Profs to go down a man.
- With 76:27 off the clock Dani Fluck Lozano was able to slip a shot past Marr to make it 1-0.
- Dickinson had the ensuing four shots with Westin Fryberger forcing a stop from Moore, while Dwamena, Rafidimahavonjy and Temple missed the target.
- Rowan added an insurance marker with just 15-seconds remaining thanks to Grozinski.
