CARLISLE, Pa. - For the third straight game this season, Dickinson women's soccer displayed its strong offense, outshooting the visiting University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg 34-2, including a 20-4 advantage in shots on target. Dickinson got goals from four different players on the day as
Bridget Merkel cashed in during half one, while McKenna Gross,
Isabelle Bariso and
Izzy Chimento found the back of the net in the second period.
First Half
- Both sides pressured early with Ella Smith testing Pico Gray, while Ava Prisco was denied by Kira Howcroft within the opening ten minutes.
- Over the next ten-plus minutes Howcroft was called upon repeatedly turning away Anna Bitsko, Emma Barrabee and Prisco.
- The game's opening goal came from Merkel at 20:13 and gave the Red Devils a 1-0 lead.
- Dickinson continued to put the Bobcats under duress as Howcroft had to shutdown Megan Lomotan, Maddie Kraft-Williams and Joelle Ma to keep it 1-0 at the break.Â
- The Devils dominated the ball in the half outshooting Pitt-Greensburg 16-1.
- Goalkeeper Pico Gray made one save in the first half.
Second Half
- The second half continued Dickinson's strong offensive display, with Gross scoring an unassisted goal at 54:10.
- Then, just 46 seconds later, Bariso found the back of the net at 54:56 to give the Red Devils a 3-0 lead.
- Howcroft had answers for Ava Cefaloni, Lauren Flowers and Ma, but Chimento added the final tally at 78:48 to give the Red Devils the 4-0 win.
- Substitute goalkeeper Aralynn Patterson made one save in her second-half appearance.
