Under his guidance the team first broke the school record for wins in a season in both 2011 and 2012, before tying his own record once again in the 2023 season (25 wins), then breaking it again in the 2024 season (28 wins). Hanson coached the Devils to back-to-back Centennial Conference Championship game appearances in 2023 and 2024 and has managed to recruit talented student-athletes to the Red Devil program from all around the nation.

The Red Devils have achieved many accolades under Hanson, including winning the coaching staff of the year for the Centennial Conference in 2023. Individuals have also thrived under Hanson, producing the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2008, multiple players earning all-region honors, most recently Ryan Thompson in 2025 and Koll Peichel, Kaden Sigmon and Thompson in 2024, and having a program record 4 players earn Centennial Conference 1st team honors in 2024.

During the 2022 campaign with Dickinson, he hurled 23.2 innings allowing 20 hits and 11 runs, while also collecting 28 strikeouts and surrendering just seven walks.

Before joining the Red Devils, he had a 2-year stint at Division I Davidson College. During Hanson’s second season at Davidson, he was promoted to lead assistant and helped guide the team into the national rankings.
