Ken Broomer

Ken Broomer

Ken Broomer has been on the Dickinson Red Devils Basketball staff since the 2014-15 season. He was also an assistant for the 2008-2009 campaign. Prior to returning to Dickinson, he spent five seasons as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Bloomsburg University.

Over that span, he coached five All-PSAC East honorees including the 2012 PSAC East Player of the Year and the conference’s first PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year. Bloomsburg finished the 2010-2011 season as Conference Champions and reached the Conference playoffs three years in a row, which had not been accomplished in over a decade.

Other coaching stops include four years as an assistant at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, as well as one season as an assistant for Saint Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Basketball team.

During his time at Dickinson, Broomer helped the Red Devils reach the 'Sweet Sixteen' of the NCAA Division III Championship in 2015 and produce the National Player of the Year and back-to-back Centennial Conference Players of the in 2015 and 2016 in All-Americans Gerry Wixted '15 and Ted Hinnenkamp '16. The Red Devils won a Centennial Conference title in 2015 and returned to the finals in 2017.

Broomer is a retired Naval Officer currently pursuing a Law Degree.  He has obtained other degrees from Columbia Southern University, Tulane University, and the Naval Post Graduate School. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, and currently teaches graduate and undergraduate logistics courses at Mount St. Mary’s University as well as Program Management at the Defense Acquisition University.
