College field hockey team celebrated senior day with a 1-0 victory
over visiting Washington College on Saturday. |
Junior Leah Kaplan (Montclair,
N.J./Montclair) blasted the game-winner into the cage
with an assist from Lizzie Boorse (Center Valley,
Pa./Southern Lehigh) on a corner in the 24th
minute.
Boorse had a strong scoring chance late in the first half, but
Washington's Emily Broomell made an outstanding defensive save on
the shot.
The Devils held the Shorewomen to just three shots on the
afternoon, all in the second half. Senior
goalkeeper Amanda West (Harleysville, Pa./North
Penn) stopped all three shots she faced.
The Devils also forced 20 penalty corners on the day, while
allowing just five on the defensive end.
The Red Devils improve to 7-10 overall and 5-5 in the Centennial
Conference.
