Tierno Nets Three to Keep Devils Unbeaten at 6-0

(Chestertown, Md.)- The 18th-ranked Dickinson College men's soccer team opened Centennial Conference play with a 3-0 win at Washington College on Saturday.

 

The Red Devils posted their second straight shutout of the season as first-year Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) tallied all three goals for his first collegiate hat-trick.

 

Tierno netted the game-winner in the 21st minute with an assist from junior Thomas Parkinson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield). He added a pair of goals in the second half, scoring unassisted in the 73rd minute and then on a header with an assist from Magen Mintz (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) at the 83:41 mark.

 

Senior James VanMeerbeke (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg)made one save in 81 minutes of action. Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) came on to close out the shutout.

 

The Red Devils improve to 6-0 on the year and 1-0 in the conference. They return home to host the number one team in the nation, Messiah College, on Wednesday night at 6:00 pm.
