Overtime PK Leads #12-Dickinson Past #3-Swarthmore

(Carlisle, Pa.)- The Dickinson College men's soccer team, ranked 12th in the nation by D3soccer.com, knocked-off #3-ranked Swarthmore College, 1-0 in overtime on Saturday.

The win was the first over the Garnet in the tenure of head coach Brian Redding, and the first for the Devils in nine meetings as Swarthmore held a 5-0-3 mark going into the contest.

The teams played scoreless through regulation and into overtime. The Devils drew a penalty kick when a Swarthmore defender was forced to make a diving save in the Garnet net, which is an automatic PK and results in a red card.

Junior Thomas Parkinson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) converted the penalty as the Devils improve to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference.

First-year Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) earned the start and the shutout, making six saves on the afternoon. David D'Annunzio made six saves in goal for Swarthmore (7-1,1-1).

The Red Devils travel to Muhlenberg on Wednesday to face the Mules at 7:00 pm.
