Carlisle, Pa. - The Dickinson College field hockey team rolled
to a 5-0 win over visiting Muhlenberg on Saturday morning. Junior
Lauren Kelly
(Lititz, Pa./Warwick) scored the first two goals of the
game, finding the cage in the 12th and 23rd
minutes, to put the Devils in front 2-0 in the opening half.
Katie Mersky
(Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) assisted Kelly's
second goal and tallied her own unassisted goal just 11 minutes
into the second half. Senior Lizzie Boorse
(Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) stretched the lead to
4-0, scoring on a penalty corner with assists from sister
Alex
Boorse (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and
Claire Mammen
(Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) at the 61:31
mark.
Boorse struck again just moments later, converting an assist
from Marybeth
McCarthy (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) at 63:17, to
close out the scoring for the game.
The Red Devils held a significant 28-5 advantage in shots and
held a 12-3 edge in penalty corners. First-year goaltender
Katy
Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends)
earned the shutout with four saves on the day.
Kristen Dornenburg made four saves in goal for Muhlenberg as
they drop to 0-9 on the season and 0-3 in the Centennial
Conference.
The Red Devils improve to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Dickinson will travel to York College on Tuesday for a 4:30 start
against the Spartans.
