Big Day for Braniecki as Devils Top Mules 16-10

(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team stormed out to a 10-3 halftime lead en route to a 16-10 win over visiting Muhlenberg on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The Red Devils opened a 3-0 lead behind a pair of early goals from senior Abby Larson (Easton, Pa./Gunston Day). The Mules answered at the 24:45 mark before the Devils rattled-off four straight to stretch the margin to 7-1 with 19:09 to play in the first half.

 

Muhlenberg's Danielle Rosen scored and assisted Kelsey Elmer on back-to-back goals. The Devils finished the half with three unassisted scores to hold a 10-3 advantage at the break.

 

The second half started similar to the first with the Devils outscoring Muhlenberg 7-1. The Mules made a run over the final 6:48, scoring the last five goals to cut a 16-5 deficit down to the final of 16-10.

 

Junior Sara Braniecki (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur)turned in an outstanding performance on attack, dishing out five assists and scoring a pair of goals. She matches a career-high with the third-best, single-game assist total in school history, matching the third-best point total.

 

Larson finished with three goals and one assist while Kaity Moore (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's) and Lucy West (Bethesda, Md./Holton-Arms) each tallied two goals and one assist. Ella Clough (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius College Prep) came on to score twice as well.

 

Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School)controlled seven draws and four ground balls. Sunnie Ko (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) controlled four draws, two GBs and caused a pair of turnovers.

 

Junior goaltender Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made 12 saves and controlled three ground balls with a strong performance in the Devil cage.

 

Rosen led Muhlenberg (6-4, 1-3) with a game-high five goals, adding one assist. Allysin Vachon made three saves.

 

The Red Devils improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to #2-ranked Franklin & Marshall for a 1:00 start on Saturday.
