(Carlisle, PA) - The Dickinson College
field hockey team suffered a 5-0 loss to the #5 ranked Dutchmen of
Lebanon Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
Lebanon Valley started off strong, controlling the ball for most
of the first half. Allison Bicher scored the first goal at 11:31,
off of an assist by Caitlin Vasey, which served to set the tone for
the Dutchmen. Lebanon Valley outshot the Devils 17-1 before the
break.
The Red Devils persevered, however, and pulled out a strong
second half. The field was equally controlled, and this time
Lebanon Valley took only two more shots than Dickinson.
First year goalkeeper Katy
Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends)
had an impressive outing, saving nine shots on the day.
Leading the Red Devils were junior Lauren Kelly
(Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and sophomore Tanya
Bellingham (Alexandria, Va./Annandale) each with one
shot on goal.
Sophomore Marybeth
McCarthy (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) played well
defensively, recording a defensive save. Alex Boorse
(Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) also played solid
defense, adding three shots.
Jocelyn Novak led the Dutchmen scoring, two goals and taking
five shots on goal. Vasey also tallied two for Lebanon Valley,
adding an assist as well.

Stockton College, Saturday at 1:00 pm.
