(Grantham, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's soccer team turned
in a truly valiant effort against #10-ranked Messiah, but suffered
a heart-breaking 2-1 overtime loss on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils struck first, scoring in the seventh minute to

Montross (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase)

lead in the first half. They had their best opportunity for an
insurance goal in the 24th minute, drawing a penalty kick. The shot
went just wide of the post to keep the score 1-0.
Messiah used waves of substitutes to keep constant pressure on
the Devils in the second half. They finally broke through in the
74th minute, as Derek Black scored off an assist from Trevor
Lee.
The Devils held on behind outstanding goalkeeping from sophomore
Cody Hickok
(Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow), sending the game into
overtime.
Messiah capitalized on a break-away as Nick Thompson set up
Geoff Pezon for the game-winner in the 97th minute.

first loss of the season, slipping to 5-1-1. The Devils travel to
Swarthmore College on Saturday for a 7:00 pm kick-off against the
