Novak Nets Four to Lead LVC Past Devils

(Annville, Pa.) – The Dickinson College field hockey team suffered a 6-0 setback at Lebanon Valley on Monday afternoon. The Dutchwomen tallied three goals in each half to improve to 9-4 on the season.

 

 

Lebanon Valley struck a little over four minutes into the game as Jocelyn Novak redirected an assist from Mandi Albright for the first her four goals on the afternoon.

 

 

Kirsten Martzall extended the lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute before Novak tallied the first of three straight goals to put LVC in front 3-0 at halftime. Novak struck again after the break, matching the time of her first period goal, scoring exactly 4:24 into the period.

 

 

Jenni Walker recorded the assist and picked up another off of Novak's fourth goal of the game in the 48th minute. The Dutchwomen closed out the scoring as Lauren Brumbach put one in the cage with an assist from Nicole Vasiliu with 8:15 remaining in the game.

 

 

Sophomore Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends) matched a season-high, making 15 saves on the afternoon. Christine Poletti and Chloe Baro each made two saves while Bridget Monighan recorded a defensive save.

 

 

The Red Devils slip to 4-8 overall. They return home to host Washington College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
