(Carlisle, Pa.) –The Dickinson College men's soccer team improved to 5-2 in Centennial Conference play with a 3-0 win over Ursinus on Senior Day. The Red Devils struck twice in the first half and added another insurance goal with just over 14 minutes to play in the game.
Senior Bryan Gilmartin (Branchburg, N.J./St. Joseph's) put the Devils on the board, finishing off a beautiful lofting assist from first-year Greg Kane (Greenwich, Conn./Hotchkiss), just 5:24 into the contest.
Junior Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) stretched the margin to 2-0 as Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School) recorded his conference-leading eighth assist of the season. He is tied for third in school history for assists in a season.
The Red Devils tallied again in the 76th minute. First-year Nate Latshaw (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) recorded his first collegiate goal with assists from senior Ben Gemberling-Johnson (Wyndmoor, Pa./Germantown Friends) and classmate Drew Carneal (Woodbine, Md./Sandy Springs Friends).
Junior goalkeeper Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made six saves, posting his fourth individual shutout and the fifth of the season for the Red Devils. Mike Alfieri stopped seven shots for Ursinus (3-10-3, 2-4-1).
The Devils held the advantage in shots, 15-12 while the Bears had the edge in corners, 5-3. The Red Devils improve to 8-4-3 overall and 5-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Wednesday for another critical conference match with Muhlenberg. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
