Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College field hockey team celebrated senior day with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over #20-ranked Juniata College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Devils rallied from a 2-0 deficit to knot the game and force overtime. Neither team could net the game-winner in the extra-frames, sending the contest to strokes. The Devils converted their final three attempts in strokes to secure the win.

Sophomore goaltender Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends) turned in an outstanding performance in the cage, turning away a career-high 26 shots. She received a little help from senior Lauren Kelly (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), who made a defensive save as well.

The Devils kept the nationally-ranked Eagles off the scoreboard in the first half, heading into halftime with the score tied, 0-0. Juniata struck quickly after the break as Kim Amrod battled in the circle, firing off three shots before one found the back of the cage. The Eagles stretched the lead to 2-0 on a penalty corner as Shauna Deschenes finished off assists from Amrod and Caroline Phillips.

The Devils had seen enough, answering just two minutes later on a penalty corner of their own. Bellingham ripped a shot off assists from senior Claire Mammen (Berkley Heights, N.J./Governor Livington) and first-year Caroline Kapustynski (Darien, Conn./Darien) with 18:27 remaining in regulation.

The Devils tied the game in the 65th minute as Kelly would finish a Dickinson corner, scoring off assists from Mammen and Bellingham.

The score would hold through the final five minutes of regulation two sudden-victory overtimes. Junior Alex Boorse (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) converted the Devils' final stroke attempt for the game-winner.

Juniata held a 39-14 advantage in shots on the afternoon, holding a slim 18-14 edge in corners. The Eagles forced seven corners in overtime but the Red Devil defense held. Janelle Howard made six saves in goal for the Eagles as they slip to 10-6 overall.

Senior Katie Mersky (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) turned in a solid performance as well, joining Kelly and Mammen to post a win in their final home contest. The Red Devils (5-11) travel to Lancaster for the season finale on Saturday, taking on #7-ranked Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm.
