(Carlisle, Pa.) –The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team turned in a strong performance, but fell to #7-ranked Franklin & Marshall, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats close out the regular conference schedule, 9-0, improving to 15-2 overall.
The Diplomats took a 3-0 lead, but it took almost the entire first half to get there. Maggie Mae Shields scored on a free position attempt a little over 10 minutes into the contest to put F&M on the board. Caroline Krohn scored at the 11:25 mark and Cat Serpe added another free position with 8:02 remaining in the half.
Senior Sunnie Ko (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) tallied a free position goal with just 23 seconds remaining in the first half, as the Devils trailed just 3-1 at the break.
F&M outscored the Devils 5-0 in the second half, but Dickinson played well throughout the game, despite the final tally. The Devils held a 7-3 advantage on draw controls, claiming 4-of-5 in the first half.
Cat Serpe scored twice for F&M while Shields controlled five ground balls. Kelsey Hoffman made seven saves in goal for the Diplomats.
Senior goaltender Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made 11 saves, caused three turnovers and controlled three ground balls for Dickinson.
The Red Devils slip to 7-10 overall and 4-5 in the Centennial Conference.
