(Chestetown, Md.) – The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team suffered a Centennial Conference loss on Saturday, falling on the road at Washington College, 13-7.
The teams played even throughout the first half before a late run put the hosts up 7-3 at halftime. Senior Kelsey Muir (Glen Mills, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) put the Devils on the board first, scoring on an assist from Katie Moore (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's, Del.) at the 25:51 mark.
The Shorewomen answered with three straight before first-year Lauren Jonas (Resiterstown, Md./McDonogh) made the score 3-2 with an assist from senior Sunnie Ko (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) with 12:22 remaining in the first half.
Carly Eisenbrandt tallied her second goal of the game for Washington and Moore assisted Sara Braniecki (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) to keep the Devils within one, 4-3, with 7:41 to play in the half.
Corinne Ziccardi found the net twice and Eisenbrandt tallied her third of the game to give the Shorewomen a 7-3 advantage at halftime.
The Devils struck twice in a span of just 36 seconds to open the second half as Moore found the net, then assisted Muir again at the 23:36 mark to cut the deficit to 7-5.
Moore traded goals with Rachel Bartee and Liza Twilley to give Washington a 9-6 lead with 18:37 remaining in the game. Eisenbrandt and Ziccardi tacked on goals to stretch the margin to 11-6 with 14 minutes to play.
The Shorewomen tallied two more goals with just over eight minutes to go, and Ko closed out the scoring with a final tally for the Red Devils with 46 seconds left.
Eisenbrandt led the way for Washington (10-2, 4-2) with four goals. Stephanie Seibert made nine saves in goal.
Moore led the Devils with two goals and three assists, adding a pair of draw controls. Muir finished with two goals and three ground balls while Ko added a goal and an assist to go with three draws and three caused turnovers on the day.
Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made nine saves and Amanda Morse (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) finished with four.
The Red Devils slip to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face McDaniel College on Wednesday at 4:30 pm.
