(Madison, N.J.) – The Dickinson College field hockey team recovered from an early deficit to defeat Farleigh-Dickinson Florham, 2-1, on Wednesday night.
The host Devils struck quickly, scoring just 5:05 into the contest on an unassisted goal from Kelsey Kistle.
The Red Devils answered with 4:31 remaining in the first half. Junior Alex Boorse (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) tallied the equalizer to tie the game, 1-1, at the break. Senior Katie Mersky (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) scored for the fourth straight game, netting the game-winner with 13:15 remaining in regulation.
The game was just about as close on paper as it was on the field. Dickinson held a slim 11-10 advantage in shots while each team forced seven penalty corners on the night. Tess Loughran made five saves for FDU-Florham as they slip to 4-6 overall.
Sophomore goaltender Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends) made three saves for the Red Devils as they improve to 3-5 on the year.
The Red Devils return to Centennial Conference action on Friday night. They travel to Allentown to face Muhlenberg College at 7:00 pm.
