(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team suffered a tough loss to visiting Johns Hopkins on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays swept the Devils, 3-0, to improve to 23-3 overall.
The Devils played even in the early going of the first set. Hopkins broke a 9-9 tie with an 8-2 run en route to a 25-16 decision. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 10-1 advantage to start the second set, taking a 2-0 lead in the match, 25-10.
Hopkins had another strong start in the third before the Devils made a run of their own, erasing a 9-1 deficit to pull within, 12-7. The Blue Jays would eventually pull away, however, closing out the match with a 25-17 win in the third set.
Jasmine Warmington led the way for Hopkins with nine kills and three blocks while Ellen Rogers and Meagan Donahoe each added seven.
Senior Avery Zuvic (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) tallied six kills and a pair of blocks for Dickinson. First-year setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out 19 assists.
The Red Devils slip to 5-13 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial Conference. They snap their four-match, conference winning streak and will try to get back on track on Saturday, traveling to Ursinus College for a 12:00 pm match.
