(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team survived a 3-2 thriller against Bryn Mawr on Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal with just 59 seconds remaining in regulation.
The Owls struck first as Madison Beckmann scored, 7:37 into the game, to put Bryn Mawr on the board. Sophomore Natalie Polk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) answered off a penalty corner, a little over four minutes later, to even the score, 1-1.
Beckmann would score again, putting the Owls back in front, ten minutes into the second half. She scored on a penalty corner, with an assist from Mikah Farbo with 23:37 remaining in the game.
The Red Devils used another penalty corner to net the equalizer in the 60th minute. First-year Katie McCarthy (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) finished an assist from senior Tanya Bellingham (Alexandria, Va./Annandale) to knot the game, 2-2.
With time running out, the Devils made one last push and first-year Allison Forhan (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve) would lead the way, scoring off an assist from classmate Alyssa Stillwell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) with just 59 seconds remaining in regulation.
The Red Devils held on for the final minute to secure the win, improving to 5-7 overall and 1-5 in the Centennial Conference.
First-year Emily Fuss (Newtown Square, Pa./Notre Dame Academy) earned the start in goal, making five saves to post the win. Alex Weinfeld made 14 saves in the cage for Bryn Mawr as they slip to 5-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Red Devils held the advantage in shots, 33-10, and corners, 16-10. Dickinson travels to Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday night for a 7:00 start.
