(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team held off a late surge by the University of Scranton, improving to 2-0 with a 106-99 win on Saturday.
Junior Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School) led the way with a triple-win afternoon. He posted wins in the 50 freestyle (21.94) and the 200 backstroke (2:04.56). The junior also swam the lead leg of the winning 400 medley relay (3:40.91).
Sophomore Cris Miranda (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) captured the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.05, holding off teammate Cameron Phillips (Woburn, Mass./Phillips Academy –Andover) who had a time of 2:08.17. Miranda joined the medley relay, swimming the third leg.
Sophomore Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) earned a trio of second place finishes on the day. He joined the 400 free relay (3:25.16), and clocked times of 1:51.97 and 2:05.30 in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke events. First-year Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken School) won the 200 freestyle in 1:51.66. He also anchored the 400 free relay.
Junior captain Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.19 and swam the anchor leg of the winning 400 medley relay.
Senior Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School) swam the other leg of the medley relay and placed third in the 50 freestyle (22.87).
The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They travel to York College next Saturday for a quad-meet with Susquehanna and St. Mary's College of Maryland. The first race is set for 1:00 pm.
