CARLISLE, Pa. - Both the Dickinson men's and women's swimming programs will have a new face on the pool deck beginning this year as Laurel Gingrich has been named the new assistant coach by head coach Anthony Pompei.
Gingrich, is a recent graduate of Division II Shippensburg University where she obtained her Master's degree in Strategic Communications. During her time at Shippensburg she competed for the Raiders swim team for one year posting two school records, multiple NCAA 'B' cuts and was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Second Team. Prior to heading to Shippensburg, she earned her Bachelor's degree from Division III Albright College in Fashion and Communications with a track in Journalism. While with the Lions, Gingrich was a multi-sport athlete competing in field hockey, swimming and track & field. With the swim program she achieved numerous All-Middle Athletic Conference (MAC) honors, including being chosen as the 2023 MAC Swimmer of the Year and being named a Senior Scholar-Athlete.
Before coming to Dickinson she was working with Middle Atlantic Swimming LSC, where she was the social media coordinator tasked with broadening the digital space for the swimming community.
Coach Pompei offered his thoughts on his new coaching addition saying "we couldn't be more excited to have Laurel join our program! Her passion for the sport, eagerness to learn, and commitment to developing student-athletes both in and out of the pool really stood out to us during the interview process. I'm confident Laurel will bring fresh energy and ideas that will help us continue to grow as a team and help our swimmers reach their full potential."
Gingrich began her time with the Red and White on Monday, August 25th.
