LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team closed out a strong four days of swimming inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center on the campus of Franklin and Marshall College on Sunday afternoon by claiming fourth-place at the Centennial Conference Championships.
The day began with four athletes taking part in the 1650-yard freestyle as
Alexander Kanard finished 12th with a time of 17:04.75, followed by
Damon Buchanan (16th - 17:09.70),
Benjamin Brandt (19th - 17:22.16) and
Matthew Ferenz (22nd - 17:50.07).
James Wright put forth a podium worthy performance during the 200-yard backstroke as his time of 1:50.53 earned him third, while
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi nabbed 11th thanks to a 1:55.90.
Samson Qu closed out his rookie campaign with an eighth-place result for the 100-yard freestyle by stopping the clock at 46.15.
A quartet of Devils were involved in the 200-yard breaststroke with
Aidan Keillor grabbing tenth courtesy of a 2:10.87, followed by
Joe Apat (12th - 2:12.06),
Justin Wong (13th - 2:12.70) and
Henry Lease (16th - 2:16.06).
The 200-yard butterfly saw a DC trio complete as
Andrew Kelley,
Nolan Chenot and
Paul Florio locked up eighth (1:54.25), 12th (1:57.09) and 15th (2:01.04) respectively.
The weekend concluded with the team of Kendall, Qu, Wong and Wright taking fifth (3:06.28) for the 400-yard freestyle relay, while the other unit with Chenot, Engel, Kanard and Keillor claiming 14th thanks to a time of 3:13.50.
Team Scores
Swarthmore finished out the weekend by winning the conference title with 928 points followed by Gettysburg (892), Franklin and Marshall (466), RED DEVILS (349), Washington (Md.) (344), Ursinus (314) and McDaniel (148).
