(Frostburg, Md.) – The Dickinson field hockey team improved to 3-2, posting a 2-0 win at Frostburg State University on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils scored a pair of goals in a span on one minute, late in the half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Sophomore Alexandra Becker (Spring House, Pa./Germantown Academy) put the Devils on the board, scoring off an assist from senior Alex Boorse (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) with 4:27 remaining in the half.
Just over one minute later junior Lauren Wyman (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) added some insurance, giving Dickinson a 2-0 advantage at the break.
The Red Devil defense turned in an outstanding performance in front of junior goaltender Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends). Schlechtweg made seven saves to record the shutout.
The Red Devils held a 26-15 advantage in shots and forced nine corners while allowing just five on the defensive end. Maggie Edwards made 11 saves in goal for Frostburg (2-3).
Dickinson improves to 3-2 overall. They open Centennial Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Haverford for a 12:00 pm start.
